JD Sports has opened its biggest global store at the Trafford Centre which was opened by the legendary Jamaican runner, Usain Bolt, over the weekend.
First opened back in the late 90s in Greater Manchester’s Trafford Park, a short drive from the home of Man Utd & the once industrial wasteland of Salford Docks, the Trafford Centre stuck two fingers up to the whole North/South divide. Putting Stretford on the shopping map long before its re-generation of French style bistros & “built for renters” apartment complexes, walking into the Trafford centre back in ’99 was like walking on board the Titanic, literally. Except instead of falling in love with Leonardo Di Caprio it was more the latest wares from the top designer brands. A food court with cuisines from here, there & everywhere with annual Xmas decorations that put London’s Oxford Street to shame alongside premium labels & a completely new shopping experience. The Trafford Centre took its visitors out of the (usually) grey & showery skies of Stretford into a retail world of tropical palm trees & top tier department stores. Sneaker Jobs can now unveil some big news for the Greater Mancunian mall with the opening of one of the biggest ever JD Sports stores at the Trafford Centre.
Opened this weekend by the legendary Jamaican runner & current 100m sprint record holder, Usain Bolt, the JD Sports Trafford Centre store features a 41,000 square foot mega mall retail space of sportswear and the very latest trainer releases from brands such as Nike, adidas, PUMA & On Running to name a few. Alongside opening their biggest global store in the Greater Manchester region, JD Sports also unveiled their recent plans for their new Campus HQ in Bury which is also rumoured to open this year & set to rival the likes of Facebook & Google.
