The adidas Adizero Aruku trainer captures the running heritage of the original silhouette from Toshiaki Omori with updated tooling for a modern twist.

As much as we’re (currently) inundated with new running trainer brands offering the latest in innovation, comfort & technology, you’ve got to give “die marke mit den 3 streifen” the credit where its due. adidas have been knocking out some of the best (if not the best) running trainers since the 1950s. Their rich running DNA takes us back to some of the most celebrated runners of all time like the SL 72, the Boston Super, the Marathon TR, the New York, the Country, the TRX Competition, the Interval, the Cadet & the whole legacy of the ZX series (I could go on). Moving into the noughties their record-breaking running lineage was taken to new levels with the introduction of the adidas Adizero in 2008. Originally designed by Toshiaki Omori, the adidas Adizero redefined speed through innovation, prioritising foot anatomy to create the “microfit”. For December 2024 the Adizero embarks on a brand new chapter with the launch of the adidas Adizero Aruku trainer.

With meticulous planning & state of the art research techniques, the Adizero’s simplicity was key to the silhouettes balancing of materials, weight & cushioning. Adapted for various running terrains the silhouette went under vigorous testing from the treadmill to the track. First launched in 2008, on the night before the Berlin Marathon, the Adizero was worn by the legendary Ethiopian athlete, Haile Gebreselassie, as he passed the finish line in a record breaking time.

Now re-introduced for the modern day wearer, the world record breaking silhouette from Toshiaki Omori gets a modern update with updated tooling. Taking its name from the Japanese phrase “to walk”, the Aruku is a hybrid runner which also draws inspiration from the PR runner from the early noughties. Harking back to the past, and the present, the Aruku features engineered mesh & synthetic leather uppers with Swirlfoam cushioning technology and a forward rolling rocker midsole. The adidas Adizero Aruku is available now from select stockists such as size?.
