The Rochdale based sportswear & sneaker retailer, Footasylum, has reported a record year of revenue & profit for fiscal year 2025.

Founded by the original co-founders of JD Sports back in 2005 by David Makin & later John Wardle with a single shop in Cheshire, Footasylum has grown to become a household name for all things trainers & tracksuits. Located in the majority of city centres, shopping malls & towns across the UK, Footasylum has pioneered influencer marketing with its social media channels working with everyone from top Man United players to regional Grime artists. After securing a £35 million funding package from HSBC to fuel its expansion & sustainability back in October 2024, Footasylum has now posted record revenue & profit for fiscal year 2025, up to 25th January 2025. The UK sportswear retailer posted record full year results with revenue up 9.4% for the year to £349.5 million. Underlying EBITDA for the year was also up 26% to £28.2 million & operating profit doubled to £21.7 million. Footasylum’s profit after tax was also up by a staggering to 625% to £19.9 million, compared to £2.8 million from the last year.

The company said its record year of revenue & profit was driven by a strong demand for its exclusive brands & junior wear, which grew by 42%. Revenue in the retailer’s nursery category also grew by 45%. Footasylum’s exclusive brand sales also doubled during the year, rising by 100% to £33.7 million which accounted for 10% of Footasylum’s total revenue. In store sales were up 3% for year to £172.6 million & online sales were also up by 6% to £143 million. For fiscal year 2025 the UK sportswear retailer opened a total of 7 new stores with further plans to open another 6 this year which will include an even bigger store in the Leeds Trinity Centre which opened back in 2013. Footasylum are also set to launch a new customer app this month to further boost its “digital first” strategy. Footasylum delivered record results in FY25, marking a truly standout performance – and I’m pleased to report that our strong trading has continued into the current financial year, ahead of both the prior year and budget. Our brand recognition, particularly among our core 16–24 demographic, continues to grow, supported by our distinctive content and social strategy. This was acknowledged in two recent awards wins, both recognising Footasylum for its groundbreaking approach to social media and content.
