Nike set the bar for sole technology (once again) with the introduction of their latest Vomero Premium trainer which draws inspiration from anti-gravity treadmills.
From its origins of ‘Air’ going back to the 1980s to modern day releases like this Nike Vomero Premium trainer, it’s probably fair to say the swoosh are still at the very top of their game when it comes to sole technology & innovation. Their latest state-of-the-art running trainer comes in the form of the anti-gravity treadmill inspired Vomero Premium trainer which combines ZoomX foam with an exposed Air Zoom unit in the heel & forefront for maximum cushioning underfoot. Dropping as part of Nike’s elite road running programme, the Vomero Premium is designed for the worlds top marathon runners with its ZoomX foam midsole that offers its wearer impact protection and un-rivalled bounce in every step with around 85% energy return.
Drawing inspiration from anti-gravity treadmills used by elite athletes to increase their mileage & recovery time, Nike’s R&D (research & development) and design teams have gone all in with a 55mm heel stack height to offer the next generation of sole cushioning. The exposed Air Zoom units allow for more expansion and contraction in the heel & forefoot, providing some of the greatest energy return currently on the running footwear market. The “super trainer” looks to transform the running experience for marathon runners with Nike’s designer’s flexing their innovation muscles for one of their most cushioned & comfortable running silhouette to date. The Nike Vomero Premium trainer launches officially from Nike & select retailers on October 2nd 2025. Anti-gravity treadmills supplement an athlete’s body weight so they can run with less impact, which our athletes tell us means more miles with less recovery time. The Vomero Premium aims to provide a high amount of impact reduction and a similar sensation to the anti-gravity treadmill experience. As we do at Nike, we really pushed the boundaries of what was possible for this shoe through Air experimentation and learnings from our racing and max cushioning product.
